The Road to Halong Bay | Vietnam

As I keep processing the photos from the trip to Vietnam, I wanted to share a couple more from the journey to Halong Bay. One of the good things about hiring a private driver in places like this is that you pretty much can stop anywhere you want—and that’s exactly what our group did.

After a couple of days in busy Hanoi, I was ready for some landscape action. Halong Bay was phenomenal, but I was also eager to see more of the small villages and the people from the countryside.

The photos below were made during quick stops for visiting just some of these off-the-beaten-path locations and people. Like everywhere I went in Vietnam, in the Halong Bay area, the kindness and openness of the locals amazed me. I wish I’d had more time to stay around longer.
