Painting with Light | Laser Edition

September 24, 2010 by korzeniewskidaniel 2 Comments

I think I already mentioned here that I really liked my painting with light experiment….

Now I’m totally convinced that there are endless possibilities and alternatives to work with this technique, I just finished processing a couple of images that were outtakes from shoot I made for the South Florida Camera Club contest  mentioned in my prior post in the subject, and let me tell you, the are just as good, but different.

They are different, because the technique is different, simpler and easier, but the effect is really cool!!!.

So for these images I just used one light source, and it was a green laser pointer, yep just that. At first I just wanted to use it to enhance areas of the body and also had the idea to use it to create a contour or silhouette; tried that… didn’t work….

So playing around I started to point the laser to the body of the model, and cover the surface with a fast back and forth movement all across, and ahhha!!!. I saw something interesting in the back of the camera, so I decided to try again but this time moving it faster and consecutively, the body of the model was the canvas.

The post was done in Lightroom 3, just adjusted saturation and contrast, then in Photoshop just corrected some spills from the laser in the background, and the Black and White version was also done in Photoshop.

This is really fun to try, and if you do, also keep in mind to pose the model or subject in a way that. the form of the body can have and project some shadows to create the 3D effect and forms.

If you try it, I’d love to see your pics and what you pull, so please feel free to email me your photos and tell me your experience.
